Both teams started their EURO 2024 commitments with a defeat. Despite creating many chances, Croatia were beaten by the higher quality Spain 3-0 (from half-time). The Albanians, on the other hand, took the lead in 23 seconds of the match through Bairami, scoring the fastest goal in the history of the competition, but were upset by the Italians by the 16th minute. A crucial game for both teams after their opening round defeats.
Germany had a tremendous opening game, as they thrashed Scotland 5-1 and sent a message in all directions at the start of EURO 2024. A delightful performance from Julian Nagelsmann's side who showed why they are considered one of the favourites for the competition. Hungary, in the opening match, woke up late and were beaten 3-1 by Switzerland.
Scotland disappointed against the Germans and will be looking to win their match against the Swiss tonight to get back in the qualifying mix. It was a good start to EURO 2024 for a superior Switzerland in the first 60 minutes as they beat Hungary - who woke up late - 3-1 to take an early step towards qualification from Group 1 of the tournament.
