The curtain opens tonight for the 23rd round of the Cyprus Championship with two interesting matches. First, Nea Salamina hosts Carmiotissa and shortly afterwards AEK faces Union at home.

NEA SALAMINA-KARMIOTISSA (18:30)
A big battle may take place this year for survival in the Cyprus League. As the standings have been shaped, we are going full steam ahead for a thrilling play-off and for the lower zone. If you look at the standings, you will fully grasp what we are saying. The 'reds' cannot take the... next step and are stuck in the second last place in the table. They are coming off a 2-0 defeat to Union, a development that has made it even more difficult for them to stay in the league. On the other hand, Carmiotissa, are coming off a white draw with Ethnikos, but they can't feel safe anymore either. It is an important game for both teams.

AEK-ENP (19:30)
A return to winning is the only goal for AEK Athens in the match against the "crimson" team, who have been on a high lately. The Larnaca players are coming from a draw (1-1) with Aris away and nothing with new point losses. Union, on the other hand, won 2-0 against Nea Salamina last week and increased their chances of staying up. They are the underdogs in Larnaca, but they will play without stress and want to build on that for a points gain.

AUGSBURG - LEIPZIG (21:30)
A treacherous yet dangerous outing for Leipzig, who are also fighting to secure a top four spot in the standings. The hosts are several points above the danger zone and will never get into trouble. That doesn't mean they won't fight every game...

BRIGHTON-CHELSEA (22:00)
They fought a few nights ago for the FA Cup (Brighton won 2-1 and qualified) and the two teams meet again tonight for the Championship. The home side, however, are unlikely to enter the top six on current form and at the same time are unlikely to get involved in any adventures. On the other hand, Chelsea, on the other hand, are fighting to book a place in the top four of the standings. Tonight's assignment will not be easy, as the hosts have a good squad and, most importantly, they play without stress.
