Home tests for Aris and Inter, Lyon looking for their first win!
The curtain opens with several interesting games in all European stadiums. Today's schedule is packed with matches from many leagues of the Old Continent.
ARIS LIMASSOL -OMONIA 29M (20:00)
With the title of the absolute favorite, Aris will welcome newly promoted Omonia 29M in the 2nd round of the Pancyprian League.
Alexei Spilevsky's team beat Carmiotissa 3-1 in the opening game and today against Omonia 29M they aim to double their wins.
Aris has very high goals, which go all the way back to the top of Cypriot football and therefore such games should be won. They know this very well in the Limassol team and it is for this reason that they are not going to underestimate their opponent.
Omonia 29M were beaten by AEL 2-4 in a game where they could not claim anything more. They conceded an early goal and Mr. Petrakis' plan went... down the drain. The team played without its fans and lost much of the momentum it could have had.
On the field of play, it showed that they need a lot of work, especially in defense, and it should be noted that some players who were designated as starters did not play in the opening game.
The champions overcame the shock of the premiere with a 2-0 home win over Lecce. Inter will face Atalanta at the same stadium and will be optimistic to continue their winning ways.
The Nerazzurri are favourites to win, but they will have to show a better performance against dangerous Atalanta.
The visitors also beat Lecce in their opening game, but were beaten 2-1 by Torino in an upset last weekend.
They showed weaknesses in their defence, something that if they don't correct immediately they will face great difficulties against Inter's quality strikers.
Lyon will be looking for their first win in the league against Strasbourg in the 3rd round.
Lyon have two defeats in as many games and there is a lot of frustration in the club's ranks. Of course, their task is predicted to be quite difficult, as they will face a team that is undefeated with a win and a draw.
Strasbourg are coming off a 3-1 win over Rennes and go into the south-east of France with a fierce attitude.
