Premiere in Cyprus and Germany with clear favorites
We will have kick-offs in two more European championships on Friday. In Cyprus, AEL will host Olympiacos and in Germany, Bayern Munich will welcome Leipzig.
Kick-off in the new Cyprus championship. The 2025-2026 season opens tonight in Limassol, at Alphamega, where AEL will host Olympiacos.
The Limassol team with Paolo Trametsani on the bench and several new transfers enters the year with elevated ambitions. The goal is to leave behind the disappointing paths of recent years and bring back the smiles to her friends. The last friendly against Ethnikos Achnas and the 3-1 victory left positive signs of writing and optimism for the premiere.
Olympiacos is against them. The team of Taktakalas returns to the first division and with Giorgos Kostis on the bench aims for a remarkable course and to stay. The several additions of players and the good performances in the friendlies raise expectations.
The first whistle of the new season is awaited with great interest, as AEL wants to start with the right and Olympiacos to show that it can stand with claims in the top division.
The German league kicks off with... A game of fire, as the draw brought a derby in the premiere. Champions Bayern, who returned to their throne last year after the Leverkusen bracket, host ambitious Leipzig in Munich.
The Bavarians showed their mood early on. They lifted the first trophy of the year, the Super Cup, beating Stuttgart 2-1 and enter the new marathon with confidence. Their image is already elevated, with Vincent Kobani showing that he has more solutions at his disposal and of course aiming for the top in Germany but also a course in Europe worthy of their name.
Leipzig, on the other hand, has learned in recent years to be considered a "rival awe". The... bulls passed without problems from the home of Sandhausen for the Cup (2-4) and enter the Bundesliga with high ambitions.
Bayern enters as clear favorites, however, against a team that scores consistently and has speed up front, the game can be opened.
